Tali, close friend of Lauren, 29, had been saying for months she had someone in mind to introduce her to. It turned

out to be Tali’s brother Gideon, 33, and the wait was worth it. Gideon proposed to Lauren on his own birthday,
giving her an asher-cut diamond. ‘It was one of the most exciting nights we’ve had in Melbourne!’ says the bride.

CITY MAGIC ‘We love Melbourne,’
says Lauren of the couple’s decision to
marry in Treasury Gardens, and ‘the
fact that you could see the city
skyscrapers’ from their chosen site
made it perfect. At Amaline Vitale
bridal couture house in High Street
Armadale, Lauren was ‘on the hunt for
a vintage style gown’. Having said she
would never wear a big white dress,
she tried on the San Patrick Rasia
gown by Pronovias, ‘for a laugh’. Her
mother and a girlfriend were with her,
and she says, ‘They saw my face light
up when I stepped up to the mirror. I
think we all knew.’ For her
bridesmaids, Lauren says, ‘We wanted
something fun and flattering for all
figures. And these dresses were a
vibrant contrast to the navy worn
by the groomsmen.’

LIGHT SHOW ‘Our
theme was modern
Melbourne, with lots of
light and warmth,
using candles,
green-and-white orchids
and mirrors,’ says the
bride. ‘We wanted the room to
feel like an intimate party, with a mix of
square, long and round tables.’ The
couple hired their table decorations,
including the orchids from Table Art
(tableart.net.au). Like their ceremony
venue, the couple’s rooftop reception
venue, Luminare, offered views across
Melbourne’s skyline.

A magnificent
and formal dress is
given an instantly
more relaxed feeling
when you team it with
a loose up-do.
