(Tina Meador) #1
Masses of candles in
seating areas around
the room create centres
of warm, flattering,
intimate light and a
romantic mood.

ANTICIPATION In the gardens,
Lauren waited a little nervously,
having not seen Gideon for a week
before their wedding day. The most
memorable moment of the
ceremony, she says, was ‘Seeing
my soon-to-be husband enter the
room singing and clapping with a
huge smile on his face — the men
in the bridal party were the chorus
at his back.’ She adds, ‘Another
special moment was after the
ceremony, where Jewish custom
allows the bride and groom time
alone to absorb that they have just
married. After spending a week
apart it was incredible to have
such a private moment to see each
other as husband and wife for
the first time. Then, we
were ready to party!’
And they joined their
220 guests.

THE ENTERTAINER
Lauren says she’ll
always remember ‘the
picture of my father
wagging his finger as Gideon
lifted my veil for the kiss’. At the
reception, her father Maurice also
performed a song at the piano, which
he’d written especially for the
occasion. ‘It was a very special part
of the day,’ says Lauren. As the
sumptuous dinner segued into
dessert — ‘we opted for floating
desserts which were incredible,’ says
the bride — the well-known music
ensemble, the Baker Boys Band, was
just warming up.
