PASTORAL SCENE Yael’s mother Jill had helped her choose her ivory
strapless, A-line gown, with a short train and open corseted back. And Yael
says that getting ready for the wedding together with her mother, her
mother’s twin sister, and her cousin Sal, the bridesmaid, was one of the
highlights of the day. Other notable
moments were, the cow walking
through the scene of the ceremony,
and Mark stumbling over the vows
in which he ‘promised to respect’
Yael’s opinions. ‘My mother was in
hysterics,’ says the bride.

CHASING THE LIGHT The bride
and bridesmaid swapped their
strappy gold heels for Doc Martins
for the photo session, so it was easy
to run up the hill to catch the sunset.
Guests enjoyed canapés before a
seven-course degustation dinner.
The fathers gave relaxed speeches,
but everyone teared up when the
best man cried during his speech
and the groom came to his support.
The bride and groom didn’t miss a
step during their choreographed
dance to Far Away by Nickelback.

A spectacular venue
only needs minimal
decoration, and a
couple of focal points,
like this cake with
a natural-flower
crown.
