Haby forming

If you’ve been around long enough, you’ll remember
old-fashioned haberdashery shops – and the thought
of them will make you go all gooey inside. Conjure
them in your mind’s eye and up springs an image
of Dickensian charm, complete with multi-paned
mullioned windows, crooked shingle and the faintest
hint of lavender in the air. As you peel back the
memory layers and mentally peer through wonky
glass, yesteryear crafting treats beckon you inside.
No wonder these shops made such an impression on
so many crafters and designers. We asked a few to
reminisce a little on page 84 – and you’re invited
along for their nostalgic tours.
