(Elle) #1
Linda Bailey, from Wynnum North, Qld,
for her Kokeshi Swag and village:
“Yet again Homespun has given me fun-fi lled, creative days. I made
the little Kokeshi Swag dolls by Melanie McNeice (from Vol 15 No 1)
at an Australian Sewing Guild retreat and I’m so pleased with
them. I decided just to have fun at that retreat: no-one needed any
clothes made or chores done, so I played, completing several other
projects as well as the dolls. Then, when the July Homespun
arrived, I just had to make the little houses (cute idea by Kim
Kruzich, of Retro Mama). My niece, a teacher, is getting back into
sewing, and we made our villages together. They were so much
fun. We had fabric and trims from one end of the lounge to the other

  • ‘clean’ mess everywhere. A friend called in, and she went home
with her half-made house, as well. Some days, it’s just so good for
the soul to play and sew and be creative. I’ve had a fairly tough
time lately, and so having a day doing fun stuff was wonderful.”

One of the joys of putting Homespun together each month is seeing the vision of
our designers translated into personal masterpieces by our enthusiastic readers.
We’d love to hear from you, too. Write to us with your crafty triumphs or with
