H&G HOUSES

Paint colours are reproduced as accurately as printing processes allow.

< To the right of the entrance lies the open-plan kitchen,
dining and living area, a generous space with light
flooding in from the windows and glass doors that open
up directly to the deck. The sense of space is amplified by

a double-height ceiling.
Upstairs, there’s the airy main bedroom with ensuite,
plus two other bedrooms and the family bathroom. An
open study area with a grey ironbark balustrade looks out

to the void and the living area below.
The design and orientation of the house blocks out most
direct westerly sun. Efficient double glazing moderates

indoor temperatures and keeps the interiors quiet, while
windows along the north and south elevations provide
cross-flow ventilation to carry sea breezes. For cooler

months there’s hydronic floor heating as well as a wood-
burning fireplace. It is clever, practical touches like these
combined with the home’s strong personal appeal, that
make it a true forever home.

“We love it,” says Eliza emphatically. “It’s creative, it
feels like an incredibly stable and solid home to live in,
and it never leaves us feeling bored.” #
