<^ As a result of Jan and Briony’s
creative collaboration, the house hums
with colour. Jan opted for a spirited
palette, including several different wall
colours and vibrant soft furnishings.
“The colours in the garden complement
those in the house too,” says Jan. “Some
of my favourite plants are bougainvillea
and the Chilean jasmine (Mandevilla)
that scents the air with its perfume in
summer.” Inside are arrangements of
eclectic objects found on Jan’s travels
and mementos from her films.
“It’s a few years since the makeover
now and I still enjoy the colours,
textures and designs Briony created,
especially the banquette in the kitchen.
All that has needed updating are the
accessories,” she says. >
