The old pontoon at the ferry terminal had reached the end of its practical life by early 2013. The NT Government awarded a $4.5M contract to Advance

Civil Engineering to construct and install a new state of the art aluminium pontoon, 62m long and 6m wide. Advance were also required to remove

the old pontoon and gantry and sink the structure 22km offshore.
