THE MASTERS OF MARATHON
Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) are also backing
a national marathon series. The MTBA XCM
Series starts in Alice Springs at the Easter in the
Alice stage race, before travelling to well-known
classic marathon events such as the Wombat 100
and Convict 100.
- 4th April – Easter in the Alice, Alice Springs, NT
- 12th April – Wombat 100, Woodend, VIC
- 2nd May – Convict 100, St Albans, NSW
- 5th September – Dwellingup 100, WA
- 20th September – Kowalski Classic, Kowen, ACT
- 24th October – Bayview Blast, Brisbane, QLD

so we have two different series, with great
racing opportunities and chances to ride new
trails, or just your favourites. Each series has
been met with both praise and criticism. But
there is no pressure to race each event in the
series. As it stands, it shows that just about
every state or territory has a high level marathon
race taking place there – especially when you
consider that Derby, Tasmania, will host the XCM
Championships both this year and next. With
so many events on the mountain bike calendar,
hopefully new riders can feel assured that events
within a series will offer a greater level of rider
services and a better race experience overall.
ALL NEW MAVERICKS
Just like in 2014, there will be two XCM series running through 2015.
The Maverick Marathon Series will continue, combining four of the most
prestigious and popular marathon events on the east coast. As a change
for 2015, the Flight Centre Epic has joined the series. Each event has full
and half distance options, and categories from elite to age group.- 7th March - Capital Punishment MTB, Canberra, ACT
- 21st March – Giant Odyssey, Forest, VIC
-13th September – Flight Centre Epic, Grandchester, QLD - 8th November – Camelbak Highland Fling, NSW

AT THE MONT 24HRThe Mont 24 Hour Race returns in 2015, and will
be held on 28-29 of March on the fantastic trails
in East Kowen Forest, ACT. The classic weekend
of mountain biking has a new taste, with a zombie
theme taking over the race village and forest for
this years event. It is possibly the best weekend
of bike loving fun going around, and the Mont
also happens to be one of the largest events in
Australia. Get your mates organised and enter a
team of four or six riders. Sure, there’s racing to
be had, but at its heart the Mont is remarkably
laid back, so if you don’t take your performances
too seriously, you won’t be alone. Just makeyou
