THE ALPINE GRAVITY 24HR

The Australian Alpine areas are a
great place to ride your bike. So
why not take advantage of that, and
enjoy the trails around Barjarg,
Victoria, at the Alpine 24hr that
runs from midday 28th February to
midday 1st March. More than just a
24hr race, there is also the popular
6+6 option, for those that like to
sleep and socialise a little bit more.
Barjarg is about 2.5 hours drive
from Melbourne, and there is plenty
of parking and camping available
on site.

Head to:
alpinegravity.net for full details.

GET YOUR ENDURO ON

Australian riders have never been short of an event to attend,
and that really is the case with the proliferation of gravity
enduro races around Australia. MTBA have announced not
just a Gravity Enduro National Championship at Palm Cove,
Queensland, in October – but also a fi ve round series that
doesn’t repeat visits to any state or territory.

Racing will have started at Round One in Mt Buller by the time
you read this, at the RockShox Enduro Challenge. Full details
are on ambmag.com.au and mtba.asn.au

Rocky Trail Entertainment, Chocolate Foot, and Alpine Gravity all
have a gravity e nduro series running, be sure to look them up to
fi nd an event near you.

MOUNTAIN BIKERS REPRESENT AT

ROAD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Australian Road Cycling National Championships took place in the
middle of January – and a quick look over the results show that plenty of
mountain bikers were well represented. Chris Hamilton was won the U
criterium, while Peta Mullens was 2nd in the elite women’s crit. Jack Haig
fi nished 8th in the U23 road race while Peta Mullens won the elite women’s
road race and Jenny Fay and Bec Henderson fi nished 13th and 15th in the
chasing bunch.

The elite men’s race was animated by a break away early on, with Paul
van der Ploeg in it. Other notable mountain bikers were in the race, like
Andrew Blair, Brendan Johnston, Mark Tupalski and World Cup winner Dan
McConnell. Ex-mountain biker Neil van der Ploeg even claimed bronze!

BIKE BULLER MTB FESTIVAL GROWS LARGER

The Bike Buller MTB Festival continues to grow. It already combines the widest variety
of mountain bike events in the one place over a long weekend. But factor in that it
combines with the Picnic in the Park food, wine and music festival, and that it all
happens on the trails at Mt Buller – and you can see why it’s so popular.

For 2015 Bike Buller has 14 different mountain bike events (and a trail run, which
is pretty hip right now), including gravity enduro, downhill, super D, a pump track
challenge and more.

If you’re free from March 7-9 then why not make the trip to the Mt Buller in the
Victorian High Country for Bike Buller. They have something for whatever kind of
mountain biker you are. More details are on rapidascent.com.au
