a serious makeover. The
days of the one-on-one,
face-to-face and fairly
straightforward chats
are gone. Now, you’ll be asked
to jump through more hoops
than a poodle at a dog show.
Since the recession hit,
employers have the pick of the
crop when it comes to hiring –
and they are more ruthless than
ever. “The move towards more
innovative interview styles, like
throwing in a curveball question,
is a growing trend,” says Habiba
Khatoon, from recruitment firm
Robert Walters.
“Thanks to technology,
Skype is now very popular, and
new options are being explored
all the time. When you have a
strong pool of candidates, quirky
interview styles are a great way
to distinguish between them.
That’s what we’re seeing now
- these talented people have been
waiting for the recession to end
before changing jobs, but now
many are back on the market.
