Normally I sit down with the latest copy of
Vog ue seeking inspiration for work attire, an
upcoming social event or just to dream of the
day I can afford a Hermès Birkin. However,
this month, after a particularly difficult week
managing a busy calendar, meetings, peers,
deadlines, after-work commitments, etc,
I picked up my April Vog ue hoping I could
switch off from my life challenges and plan a
whole new wardrobe instead. I began reading
the article “Lady in waiting”, a conversation
with Cate Blanchett and Anna Funder. The
conversation developed into one about their life
purpose and the challenges and inspirations
that led them to be the women they are today.
I was inspired by their stories – different and
yet having remarkable similarities – of the
struggles women face to “have it all ”. After
reading the article I felt reinvigorated to
return to work after all and to continue to seek
a satisfying career, personal fulf ilment and
to strive to develop positive relationships to
make a difference to my life and that of others.
