FIRST LIGHT
ON LITTLE HORN

Luke Tscharke, New South Wales
The first direct rays of an autumn
sunrise reached Little Horn, a summit
of Cradle Mountain, and bathed it in a
red glow for several fleeting minutes.
The peak was reflected in the seemingly
tranquil waters of the Twisted Lakes
among pencil pines and golden
fagus trees.

RED JELLYFISH

unidentified species
Ross Gudgeon, New South Wales
Several weeks after a major rain event
in the Exmouth Gulf region there is a
bloom of these red jellyfish. Beaches are
carpeted with them and under water
they are everywhere. This image was
captured during an event that ran for
a couple of weeks in autumn 2009.
