Danielle Calvert
WORKOUT INSPIRATION?Myself.
Nobodyisgoingtoexerciseforyouand
you have to be accountable to yourself
first. As a woman, training and looking
after your health gives you a certain
empowerment. The everyday girl does
inspireme–thegirlwhogoestothe
gym, wants to learn about her body. I
know what it’s like to be out of condition,
overweight and be unhappy.
WHO’S YOUR ROLE MODEL?My dad.
Hehasalwaysbeenthereformeand
supportedme100%ineverythingIhave
ever wanted to do. Also Andreia Brazier.
SheissobeautifulandhumbleandIlook
uptohersomuch.Ihavemethertooand
that only makes me appreciate her more.
CARDIO OR WEIGHTS?I’ve been
converted from a cardio bunny to now
loving weights. Weights are what I feel
has transformed my shape. As an outlet
though, cardio such as kick-training or
stairs is really good for clearing my head
andgettingasweatup.

FAVOURITE CHEAT MEAL?Everybody
who knows me, knows that cookies are
my number one indulgence.FAVOURITE
NON-CHEAT FOOD?Avocados, frozen
berries, salmon and brown rice. I love
them all.
FAVOURITE WORKOUT MUSIC?I
don’t train with music. It’s there in the
background at the gym, but I don’t need
musictomotivateme.
ADVICE FOR GYM NEWBIES?On the
daysyouwanttostop,alwaysremember
whyyoustarted.Weallhavedayswhere
we feel down and don't want to train but
just know that as soon as you’re in there
and training, you will thank yourself
for it. Find exercise you love doing then
training won’t be a chore. Never ever
giveupandalwaysfollowyourpassion
because that's exactly where your
happiness lies.

WORKOUT INSPIRATION? I like
to follow the old saying 'be your
own motivation'. If I'm lacking
motivation, I will ask myself two
questions; 'where did I start'/'how far
have I already come? ' and 'where do I
want to be? '/'what do I need to do to
get there?'
WHO’S YOUR ROLE MODEL? Paige
Hathaway and Janet Layug are my
two favourite icons in the fitness
industry at the moment. They are
both strong, beautiful and muscular,
yet outstandingly feminine. I also
absolutely take my hat off to 'Fit-
Mums!'. When I start to want to
use the excuse 'I just don't know if
I'll have enough time' I think of all
the mothers managing to do it all,
work, gym, healthy meal prep and
somehow looking after their kids
too, it makes me think again!
CARDIO OR WEIGHTS?
Predominantly weights with
enjoyable cardio activities; beach
walks, boxing classes etc. I always
like to make my workouts enjoyable.
FAVOURITE CHEAT MEAL? Pizza is
always my go to 'cheat meal' option,
with pasta coming in at a very close
second. Lately I've been loving sushi
on a high carb day (Leg day).
FAVOURITE WORKOUT MUSIC?
Dance/Electro music is my absolute
favourite!
ADVICE FOR GYM NEWBIES?
Firstly, never give up. You will come
across hurdles during your fitness
journey and they will only make you
stronger, don't allow them or anyone
else to intimidate or discourage you

  • let them f uel your f ire to continue!
Take lots of self ies/progress photos
(at home). I find it really helpful for
track ing progress. Remember to f uel
your workouts with lots of nutrient
dense foods! Don’t be afraid to step
outside your comfort zone and get
sweaty, certainly don't be afraid of
    lifting weights. Finally, workout
because you love your body, not
    because you hate it.
