...And how to use them like a pro

THE ONLY

Shadow
brush
“Blending brushes
are used for applying
eyeshadows. Use them
to blend your shadow to the
eyelid, crease, top and lower
lashline,” says Dutton. Use
a clean one to blend away
any harsh edges for
a smoky look.

Foundation
brush
“There are many different
shapes and sizes,” says Dutton.
“The best technique is to apply
in the middle of the face first
and then blend outwards to
the edges of the face.” Clean
your foundation brush after
each use, or at least once
every two days, to kill
any bacteria.

Angled
brush
“Small, angled brushes
are perfect for applying a
shadow or liquid eyeliner to
the upper and lower lashline,”
says makeup artist Hayley
Dutton. They’re also ace for
feathering in brow powder.
Clean after each use.

Powder brush
“Generally speaking, a
powder brush is used to apply
powder or blush to the face,”
says Dutton. “They are medium
in terms of size and generally
used on the cheekbones,
forehead, nose, chin and
décolletage.” Washing
weekly is sufficient.

BRUSHES

YOU NEED

Brow comb
“Groom and direct
eyebrows with this comb,”
says Dutton. “These brushes
are also great for separating
lashes after applying your
mascara.” Spritz with hairspray
and comb down flyaways
in your hair when doing
a slicked look. #
