A SWEET DELIGHT
Roz Hansen, from Adelaide, SA:“While enjoying a quilt camp and visiting
the local craft shop, I saw for the first time a display of the beautiful Tilda
fabrics. After choosing a few fat quarters and while waiting to be served,
I saw someHomespunmagazines on the counter. I opened the magazine
toThe Sweetest Thing, by Jodi Squires, made with Tilda fabrics in the
May 2014 (Vol 15 No 5) issue, andknew straight awaythat I would love
to make it. Like many other readers, I too enjoyed every stitch. I found
the crocheted flowers a bit too tricky, so I used instructions for a
periwinkle flower instead. Thanks so much, Jodi, for a delightful quilt
pattern. I now have a subscription to your inspiring magazines and just
can’t keep up with trying all your wonderful ideas.”
FOXINSOX
Jenny Hooker, from Oak Flats, NSW:“As soon as Mr Fox arrived in the
mail (Too Flashy for Foxy, from June 2015/Vol 16 No 6), I knew I just had
to make him. He came at a perfect time for me, as my sewing machine
had been sitting idle for some weeks and I needed some inspiration to get
moving again. The instructions and photographs included with the pattern
were probably the best and by far the easiest I’ve ever used, so a big
heartfelt thank you to Anthea Christian andHomespun.”
RAINBOW BUGS
Regina Lemon, from Coonabarabran, NSW:“I’ve had fun
making this quilt,Are You Bugging Me?, from the June 2015
(Vol 16 No 6) issue. I’ve always loved Natashia Curtin’s designs,
and as I had the material in my never-decreasing stash, I just
had to make this happy quilt. I did put in extra bits and added
the wording using lettering from a Chook Shed pattern.”
WINTER WARMER
Carol Culey, from Toolijooa, NSW: “What fun I had! One of my sons asked
me for a “cosy quilt” for the sofa to keep him warm in winter. I had the
fabric, as a girlfriend had given me some brushed-cotton pieces that she
didn’t need. I just needed a pattern. Then the July 2015 (Vol 16 No 7) issue
of Homespun arrived, and my dilemma was solved. The Square Dance
design, by Joanne Nicholls, was so very simple, as the smaller squares
in the middle are sewn straight onto the large squares with blanket stitch,
which just happens to be one of my favourite stitches. So off to work
I went, and very soon my son’s wish came true. As a finishing touch,
I tie-quilted some bows in the middle of the blocks to further secure the
quilt. Thank you Joanne and Homespun for a simple, snuggly quilt.”
