Bend zee knees!
This is a lovely scene with that spiny foreground
making a good counterpoint to all the more rounded,
softer textured elements in the scene. They also make a
good point of focus in the foreground. As well as good
interest, the shot has some nice variations in light and
shadow, and lovely monochromatic blues. However,
next time consider going either higher or lower for a
different point of view as well for more options when
you get home. If you went for a lower point of view the
tops of those spiky plants would rise above the horizon
line and stand out more against the sky, and conversely
a higher point of view would bring the tips under the
horizon and set them more against the water. However,
this is a pleasing image, so well done!
SAIMA’S TIP: Changing your point of view when
framing, by simply bending your knees or standing on
your toes (or whatever) can open up a heap of other
shooting possibilities and image versions.
