...TO SCORING A STYLE BARGAIN

Want maximum fash for minimum cash?

TOMARKET,TOMARKET
There’s more than a few shopaholics in your town? Thought so. The best
thing about that is scooping up their barely-worn threads for a fraction of
what they paid. Remorseful shoppers carting armfuls of stuff can often be
found off-loading at your local weekend markets. Try going early for the
pick of the bunch, or right at the end of the day for muy crazy prices.
BUDGET HACK:Try and bargain the prices down. If the Ksubi
jeans are $50, but have a little tear, you can see if the seller will
knock off $10 or so.

SASSY SAMPLES
Get ready for some mega
insanity because these events
can get a little overheated.
Basically they can be like the
zombie apocalypse – lots of
grabbing hands! Changerooms
may be non-existent so wear
fitted clothing you can pop
other things on top of or get
ready to strip off in front of
everyone (good undies at the
ready). Try Missy Confidential
online for a list of current
sales near you.
BUDGET HACK: Consider
a size you wouldn’t normally
buy. When the prices are
slashed and slashed again,
you can def afford a bit of
tailoring, so buy up a size.

AUCTIONISTA
eBay, which as Weird Al says is
that online garage sale, can be
a girl’s best friend. But be warned

  • some people call it ‘Evilbay’ coz
you can get burnt. If you have your
    eye on a cheap-as-chips designer
jumpsuit, feel free to make sure
the seller is reputable (has good

feedback). You can ask for extra
photos or for more details or
anything to put your mind at ease.
BUDGET HACK:Try to snipe.
That means bid at the very last
second so it’s harder to get outbid.
There are programs that will do
this for you, such as Goofbid.
Some people say it’s bad manners,
but eh, anything for faarrrshun.

SWEET CHARITY
Charity shops can be either
your vision of heaven or hell
depending on the amount
of patience you have. Go for
a long sift or check in at your
local regularly and the sweet
piece of your dreams could be
waiting for you. This is one to
test your fashion instincts and
your hunter-gatherer skills –
you can find anything from
ah-mazing vintage dresses to
current season gear with the
tags still on.
BUDGET HACK: Look for
prints first, then suss fabrics
and price. Non-stretch pieces
tend to hold up well. You’ll
need patience and a little
luck, too.

HOW TO BARGAIN

(^) Don’t look TOO keen on
the object of your desire.
Try to look pretty bored
and disinterested when you
ask for their best price.
 Figure out what you’d be
willing to pay BEFORE
you ask. Start low so you
have room to move.
e prepared to walk away. B
If the price still isn’t right,
you don’t have to take it.
