As a practitioner constantly
working with people who have
trauma, I have recently chosen to
no longer engage in any hands-on
adjustments. – Sharon
I will never forget when a teacher —
and there’s only been one do this in
the whole time I have practiced yoga
which has been a decade—asked
the class if anyone was opposed to
adjustments. A couple of people
put their hands up and their wishes
were respected. – Marina
I’m doing the assisting training at
the moment. For people who are
open to assists and adjustments,
these can be invaluable and can open
up a student’s mind and body to the
right alignment and the safe way of
doing a pose in the long term. - Alan

An Enlightening Read
I enjoyed the latest issue of Yoga Journal,
but the high point has to be Todd Cole’s piece ‘The Lotus Realm’;
one of the best things you’ve ever published. I’ve never
experienced one of those sudden bursts of enlightenment, but
Cole’s brutal honesty depicting such an experience—with the
bad (the yearning for the feeling to return) as well as the good
explored—was enlightening in itself. That such a story was also
a lovely piece of travel writing made it all the more extraordinary.
I hope Cole writes more for Yoga Journal. – Brad, Bondi

Thanks so much Brad. We’re so glad you loved the mag and Todd’s
article. You’ll definitely be reading more from him in future – Ed
