The metal tube hangs lightly in the space. Porro wall
cabinets provide colour pops, which are repeated in the
home. A photo artwork by Karel hangs above the Waste
table in Scrapwood by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek.
The Vitra “Standard” chairs in Cream/Oak are by Jean
Prouvé and the Aim pendant light is by Flos. A

Paying homage The use of the metal rack system in the home was a tribute to
the work of Hungarian, France-based Mathiew Matégot, who was one of the first
designers to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal in furniture, creating
organic forms with a lightness of touch. He was famous for his Nagasaki chair.
Space saver The custom-made kitchen table fits over a bench that runs along
the wall so when the table’s not in use it’s pushed up against the wall for more space.
