BLUE IS THE COLOUR OF THE DAY
IN THIS CAFE DESIGNED BY TECHNE
ARCHITECTURE + INTERIOR DESIGN

MAMMOTH
CAFE / ARMADALE, VIC

Clever solution
Different seating
styles, including
banquettes and bar
seating, make use of
the cafe’s triangular
shape and natural
nooks. The angular
American oak
tabletop was
custom-made,
while the Flos “IC”
suspension light is
from Euroluce.

Armadale,

“ THE QUIRKINESS OF THE TRIANGULAR SPLIT-LEVEL SITE
QUICKLY BECAME AN ENJOYABLE DESIGN CHALLENGE
FOR US,” SAYS TECHNE SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER
JONNY MITCHELL. “WE SOUGHT OUT TO REACH A
BALANCE BETWEEN FUNCTIONALITY AND AESTHETIC.” R

Bold & bright
A sculptural front counter,
which incorporates bar-
style seating, is a central
focal point in the space.

Bevy of blues
The flecks of blue in the
Terrazzo tiles are reflected
in the fun powdercoated-
steel tables and chairs.

A peaceful, happy space that has subtle reference
points to West Coast USA, summer holidays and
the aesthetic of Wes Anderson films was the brief
given to Techne Architecture + Interior Design in
creating this cafe design – it ticks all the boxes.

SPOTTED IT!
