4/LIGHTING The right lighting makes all the difference to a room. Up the ambience via movable table lamps and use them to

highlight vignettes or artworks for a gallery-like effect – just choose one with an adjustable arm so you can change its direction.

5/DRINKS TROLLEY Every home needs a drinks trolley. Whether it’s set up as a cocktail station for when friends come over,

or used to display your fave accessories in the hallway, they can be wheeled around on a whim unlike static console tables.

6/SIDE TABLES Replace one large coffee table with a cluster of two or three smaller tables in varying shapes and fi nishes.

The heights can be a feature, too – create a step-up effect by combining heights that differ from 5 to 10cm (see page 74).

7/VASES Sculptural vases and vessels are beautiful even when they aren’t fi lled with blooms. They can be grouped together

or singled out, and are the perfect way to add colour and texture; mix matte with metallic, resin with ceramic, bright with neutral.

8/SIDE CHAIRS Rethink the armchair and update with a more slimline side chair – an ideal solution for when extra seating

is needed in a living area where space is tight, or pair one with a side table in an empty corner for an instant reading spot. A
