HOW TO split toning

METALLIC HIGHLIGHTS
Still in the Highlights section of the panel, move the Hue slider right
to a value of 256.
This will give the image a slightly metallic purple tone. At this point,
you might consider moving the Saturation slider right to emphasise
the purple hue, but this is entirely down to preference. For a
traditional, retro effect it’s best to avoid overly saturating colour.

LESS IS MORE
Split toning adjustments can also come in handy for adding
tone to black-and-white images. The important thing to
remember here is that the Saturation adjustment is a lot more
sensitive compared to altering the tone of a colour image.
Only a small amount of saturation is required to make the
tonal variations visible. Import the mono image and select
the Develop module. In the Split Toning panel start with the
Highlights and move the Saturation slider to 17. You should
start to see a slight red tint appear.
