Small Duck Orchid (Paracaleana minor)
This is a very tiny orchid, approximately 10
to 15 millimetres long. It is relatively rare in
the Sydney region, and difficult to spot. The
backlighting is from behind and to the left,
and the colouring illustrates the impact of
light being transmitted through the orchid
rather than being reflected from the surface
as in a normal frontal shot.

Nikon D800E, Nikon 105mm macro, 1/50s
@ f40, ISO 200. Remote Nikon Speedlight,
and snoot.
