A few years ago I found out that my
neighbour is a carpenter. He helped me
restore the windows on my house and it
turned out that he used to work in a
Shaker carpentry in America for many
years. He’s a hidden gem, and has helped
with several carpentry projects
undertaken by the studio, such as this
desk that we designed (3).
On my desk you can find a laptop, a
few pens, a pile of papers and a
letter-opener (4). I’m not 100 per cent
sure where the letter opener comes from,
but I think my grandfather worked in the
company named on the tool. I got it from

him a long time ago. It’s the only thing
I have from my grandfather and I use it
every day to open bills, letters, job
applications and so on.
A couple of years ago we did a fun
identity project for Ian Kibbey and Corey
Creasy, from the Californian directing duo
Terri Timely. The logotype was
paraphrasing a clock and one of the
applications we did was a real clock. We
still have a copy of the clock (5) in our
kitchen and I see it perfectly from my work
space. I look at it more often than the
clock on my computer. It’s nice to always
be reminded of having fun at work.
