Artist Andy Potts enjoys

mixing things up...

INSTANT INSPIRATION

“I’ve been making art one way or

another for as long as I can remember.

As a kid I was usually off in my own

world firing up my imagination with a

pencil and paper. The only difference

now is I have a hefty computer to

play with. My initial goal was to try

and figure a way to create images for

a living and, following a degree in

illustration and a 20-year career so far,

it’s still the driving factor.

I like to try my hand at a variety

of techniques and subject matter.

Overall, the work is a kind of

contemporary digital collage that mixes

up photography, textures, 2D, 3D and

hand-crafted elements with a love for

vivid colours and a painterly approach.

My ideal job is one that skews with

my personal interests, gives me a good

degree of creative freedom and involves

both my illustration and animation skills.

I recently enjoyed creating the artwork

and promo video for Raw Power, a

music festival in north London. I’m also

a huge cinema and science-fiction fan,

so any job or client that covers those

bases is cool with me.”
