Droga5 London and Orange is the New Black
actress Jackie Cruz to create Zero Likes Given,
an art exhibition consisting of Instagram images
that have received zero likes.
Curated by Cruz, the exhibition invites us
to care less about social media attention and
promotes the Kahlúa ethos that life should be
taken less seriously. It ran in a New York gallery
during July, and persists online via the hashtag
#ZeroLikesGiven on Instagram and Twitter
and the http://www.bottomnine.co website, which
helps you to find your nine least-liked
Instagram images.
“Social media puts pressure on people to
record their picture perfect lives for posterity,
but in doing so we often forget to live in the
moment,” says David Kolbusz, creative chairman
at Droga5 London. “This exhibition reminds
us that life is but a collection of mistakes,
perfection is an illusion, and that in itself is an
immeasurable source of joy.”
