Exploding Soho

iwanttocongratulate
youonyourrecentfeaturear-

2016 magazine [RS 763]. It
is good to see you have resist-
ed the urge of putting a more
popular artist in Chris Martin
on the cover and instead have
focused on promoting an Aus-
tralian band who really may
be just about to explode. Keep
up the good work.

Let Buckley Be

in your story on the re-
lease of the new Jeff Buck-
ley album, “You and I”, you
ask Buckley’s A&R man Steve
Berkowitz what Jeff would
make of his archives being
raided and released. Though
Berkowitz waives the question
away, I feel it’s a very perti-

Closing Time

i’ve just returned from
the Reclaim the Streets march
in Sydney, invigorated and in-
spired by being a part of such
a movement. The Baird gov-
ernment’s lock-out laws are
killing Sydney’s night life and,
by default, damaging our cul-
tural identity and live music
scene. To see the people unite
in this manner, in a peaceful
show of protest, fills me with
hope that we may get these
laws overturned. As the great
Patti Smith once said, people
have the power! Let’s open
Sydney up again.

Pill Problems

ishouldstatenowthat
I don’t take pills, or any drugs,
forthatmatter.ButIdothink
it ridiculous that the current
regime won’t entertain the
idea of pill testing. People are
going to take drugs at music
festivalsregardlessofthelaw;

these people will die a death
that could have been avoided.
We should be trying to protect

people, not stick our heads in
the sand.

Rollins Rant

h e n ry rol l i ns’ ‘a fa n’s
Notes’ is my favourite article in
Rolling Stone, and it’s usu-
ally the first page I read when
I get the new issue. It was awe-
some to read his unique opin-
ion on Australian music from
someone outside our country
[RS 763]. To be honest, I didn’t
realise anyone outside Austra-
lia gave our home-grown tal-
ent the time of day!
