EMBROIDERED
WALL-HANGING
You can customise your wall-hanging to say
anything, so let your imagination run wild.
Estimated making time: 1½ hours
(depending on your design)
Approximate cost: $15
YOU’LL NEED:

 Embroidery hoop
 White paper
 Lead pencil
 Black marker
 Tape
 A nearby window
 Plain fabric
 Fabric pen or pencil
 Embroidery threads
 Sewing needle
 Scissors
TO MAKE:
1 Place the inner embroidery hoop on to
a sheet of white paper. Using a lead pencil,
trace around the inside circle of the hoop.
2 Draw your design inside the circle. The
neater the drawing, the neater your stitching.
3 Trace over the design with a black marker
then tape it on to a window with lots of
natural light so you can see the lines. Tape
the fabric over the top, making sure it’s as
tight as possible, then trace the design onto
the fabric using a fabric pen or pencil.
4 Lay your fabric on to the inner embroidery
hoop then place the outer embroidery hoop
over it, tightening the adjustment screws as
much as it can go. Using two or three strands
of thread, stitch to the design.
5 Once completed, knot and cut the thread
off. Flip it over and trim off excess fabric. d
This will defi nitely add a pop
of colour to your room, and the
best part is that even the most inexperienced
stitcher can make it! Why not give it a go?
Estimated making time: 2 hours
Approximate cost: $30
