cases for your phone melts away when you step into the aquamarine
waters of the Blue Lagoon.
With an average temperature of 38 degrees, it’s like getting
a huge hug from Mother Nature herself. Rich in minerals like
silica and sulphur, the Blue Lagoon soothed our yogi limbs.

DAY SIX: THIRD EYE CHAKRA
“Sometimes we just need to raise ourselves up into that higher
vibration and kundalini is great for that,” Shannon said to us
in the morning, as he led us through kundalini breathing
exercises, bringing up any energy stuck in the lower chakras.
Drawn outside for the afternoon, a fresh, cold wind fi lled
my lungs as I wandered around the waterfront, stumbling on
Hofdi House. Its white wooden cladding a bright contrast to
the grey waters of Reykjavik Harbour, Gorbachev and Reagan
began the Cold War peace talks here. Talk about a house of
peace to raise your vibration.

DAY SEVEN: CROWN CHAKRA/VIOLET
At the end of the yoga retreat, we lay on our mats in the studio
at the base of Reykjavik’s Grand Hotel, now our own sacred
space, Shannon focusing on helping us activate the crown
chakra. Using fi ngers, toes and the whole body to inhale,
reach up and feel the energy of the universe interspersed
with postures that allowed us to bow to the earth, I felt clear
and unobstructed energy ripple through me, the result of
seven days of raising my vibration.
That night, as the plane reached skywards from the
snow-covered lunar landscape of Iceland, the engines
rumbling through my body, I knew I was taking a deeper
connection to my spirit, my divine power and myself back
to the other side of the world.

“Using fi ngers, toes and the whole body to
inhale, reach up and feel the energy of the
universe interspersed with postures that
allowed us to bow to the earth, I felt clear and
unobstructed energy ripple through me, the
result of seven days of raising my vibration.”
