ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Howdy
Having just relaunched my road
biking muse after 20 years off (still
kept a trusty XL250RC in the shed
IRUWKHRFFDVLRQDOUHPLQLVFH ,ÀQG
to my surprise and delight that the
Bear is still riding and writing. I
was a passionate subscriber to Bike
Australia back in the day and read
every word on its pages. I’m enjoying
a similar vibe from your 100 odd
pages and the trip and tour stories
are particularly inspiring.
I would like to see some more
critical comparisons though when
road reviewing the bikes , they read a
little like advertorials that the
manufacturers may have paid for? A
case in point from issue 39 reviewing
the Triumph Street Twin and the

[Kawasaki] W800 in one issue
without any direct comparison.
I would have thought these 2
machines are in the same
market and that prospective buyers
(eg myself !) of a retro /naked
mid-size $13k-ish twin would like to
see your opinions voiced as a
direct comparison.
Meanwhile I’m loving my 2008
Honda Hornet 600 for the Adelaide
Hills and beyond; it’s by far the best
of the 6 bikes I’ve owned. I still
love the hard copy mag format and
the enticing cover pics, keep up the
good work.
