livia Palermo is a fascinating dresser.
Whether she’s put on her favourite leather
jeans with a satin bomber, wearing some-
thing spectacular to a fashion show, or get-
ting married in a cashmere sweater (to model Johannes
Huebl in 2014), she consistently nails effortless chic with
a twist. I mean, who else would say, “I do” in a jumper?
“I wanted something modern and not too fussy,” says
Palermo of her bridal outfit.
The knit was by Carolina Her-
rera, and the bride teamed it
with a tulle skirt. “Whatever
the day, the key when getting
dressed is to feel like yourself.”
Palermo, now 30, is one of a handful of global It girls
who dominate the who-wore-what pages during fashion
month. And yet she insists that she doesn’t overthink it.
“I really just get dressed at the last minute, my focus is to
look at the collections.”
She describes her job as a mix of curating, styling,
modelling “and working closely with brands” – her rela-
tionship with MAX&Co goes deep. She’s been trying her
hand at design too, working with US department store
Nordstrom; that range is now in its third season.
“I wear many hats,” she says, speaking metaphori-
cally – in real life she’s not a hat person. We don’t
blame her. If there’s one thing more Instagrammed than
Palermo’s outfits, it’s her hair.

“Whatever the day, the
key when getting dressed
is to feel like yourself ”
