Meaning “little slices”, fettuccine is
a flat, thick noodle made of egg and
flour. It’s popular in Roman and
Tuscan cuisine, and wider than but
similar to tagliatelle.
SPAGHETTI
Meaning “little
strings”, spaghetti
a thin cylindrical
pasta made from
semolina or flour
and water.
PENNE
Italian for “pen”, this dried pasta
resembles a quill, and has angled ends
and ridges to hold chunky sauces.
FRESH LINGUINE
Wider than spaghetti but not as
wide as fettuccine, linguine
means “little tongues”.
