Work from home? Make your office

environment bright and colourful

HOME OFFICE + STUDY

Decorator’s tips
n Tuck an office in a
nook under the eaves or
stairs. Run shelves or install
cabinets above the desk so
you can squeeze in every
bit of storage possible.
n Highlight your stored
items with colourful
containers, tubs and boxes.
n Lacking space? Consider
converting an armoire into
a convenient home office
which contains everything
you need, computer and
all. At the end of your
working day, you can shut
up shop and no-one would
be any the wiser, even if it’s
located in your living room.

Get on board
A sheet of masonite pegboard,
various hooks, a table and chairs
and you’re in business! Style up your
over-the-desk organiser with colour,
like a deep soothing green (try Dulux
Inner Space), then accessorise with
acrylic or wire baskets, trays and pen
or cup holders. Go easy when painting

  • apply two thin coats to prevent the
    holes clogging. (For more pegboard
    storage ideas, see page 124.)

Wonder wall
When you don’t wish to
spend a fortune on a fit-out,
wall-mounted modular shelving
may be your salvation. You can
adjust it to suit, too. For similar,
check out the ranges at Howards
Storage World, The Shelving
Shop, Bunnings Warehouse,
IKEA and, for a string shelving
system, Ambiente Direct.
