PARTY FOOD
The stars of the day can act all
grown−up like their favourite celebrity
with a flute of pink fizz in one hand
and a canapé in the other. As well,
there’s the kids’ all−time favourite jam
tarts made into star shapes.

PINK FIZZ
PREP TIME 5 MINUTES SERVES 12

12 sugar cubes
1.25 litre bottle chilled apple berry
drink

Just before serving, place a sugar
cube into eachchampagneflute;
add apple berry drink.

JAM STARLETS
PREP + COOK TIME 25 MINUTES
MAKES 24

2 sheets ready−rolled shortcrust
pastry, thawed
⅔ cup (220g) strawberry jam

1 Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C
fan. Grease two 12−hole round−based
patty pans.
2 Cut out 24 x 6cm stars and
24 x 1cm stars from pastry.
3 Place large stars into pans; drop
level teaspoons of jam into pastry
cases. Place small stars on patty pan
in spacesbetween the holes.
4 Bake for 15 minutes. Remove tarts
from pans onto wire racks while still
hot; place small pastry stars on top
of jam. Cool.

CANAPÉS WITH THREE TOPPINGS
PREP TIME 25 MINUTES MAKES 36

80g packet mini toasts

HAM & CHEESE
2 tablespoons cheese spread
2 slices (30g) shaved leg ham,
cut into 1.5cm strips
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh
flat−leaf parsley

HUMMUS & CARROT
2 tablespoons hummus
2 tablespoons finely grated carrot
12 coriander leaves

CREAM CHEESE & SWEET CHILLI
¼ cup (90g) spreadable cream cheese,
softened
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh
flat−leaf parsley
1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce

HAM & CHEESE
Spread most of the cheese over
12 mini toasts; top with rolled ham,
then a small dollop of remaining
cheese, sprinkle with parsley.

HUMMUS & CARROT
Spread hummus over 12 mini toasts;
top with carrot then coriander.

CREAM CHEESE & SWEET CHILLI
Combine cream cheese and parsley
in a small bowl. Spoon mixture into
piping bag fitted with a medium plain
tube; pipe cream cheese mixture on
remaining toasts. Drizzle each with
sweet chilli sauce.
