f Sunday be the day of cheats,
all praise the holy roast. After
a hard week of running, lifting,
plus the odd bit of work, you
deserve to lose sight of your body
goals in a thick sea of gravy. It’s
the sacred right of every British
man and we’re not in the business
of denying you that. In fact, we’re
about to go one better. Because
a thick slice of the right joint can
trim extra fat from your midriff.
According to Chinese research,
the amino acid l-histidine cuts away
at body fat. In their study, obese
subjects who dosed up on the
nutrient shrunk their fat mass by
more than 2kg, while those taking
a placebo lost none. L-histidine
was found to aid insulin sensitivity,
thereby improving appetite control
and energy. Subjects who took
4g a day also shaved an inch from
their waists, without making any
other changes to their diet.
The richest natural source of
histidine? Lamb. More specifically,
a sumptuous loin. So, next Sunday,
rest assured that tearing into an
unctuous cut around the kitchen
table is far from a mortal sin. And
do have seconds, won’t you?
