As much as we’d like to step
into the New Year in perfect
shape, all those mince pies,
pot roasts and Christmas cake
certainly don’t make things
easy. What’s a girl to do?
Try these little tricks to help
keep the extra pounds at bay.

season’s

eatings

  1. have a hearty
    breakFast
    During rushed times, the
    tendency is to grab whatever
food is available on the go. This
    year, plan your breakfasts and
    eat something that’s healthy
and filling, so you don’t feel
    ravenously hungry and end up
    eating everything in sight at
    t h e o f fi c e C hr i s t m a s lun c h.
    Tip: Including more proteins in
    your morning meal will keep
    you satiated for longer.
    2. portion control
Serve food onto a small plate
    and observe the 80/20 rule:
    Load up 80 percent of
    healthy options and 20
    percent of the not-so-healthy
    items. Take your time while
    eating by chewing slowly,
    sipping water between bites
    and chattingwith others—
    anything to make the meal
    last longer and discourage
you from going for round two.
    3. carry
    healthy snacks
    If your busy schedule calls
    for running around with last
    minute gift shopping without
    much time to observe proper
    meal times, pack some
    healthy snacks like dried/
    fresh fruit or unsalted nuts
    and seeds for an energy
    boost—way better options
    than that croissant and latte
    from the corner shop.
