BALANCING ACT

After these hexagonal
mosaics from Tiento Tiles
were chosen as a feature,
other materials and finishes
were selected to temper their
busy, rhythmic effect. “Layers
of white and copper were
introduced to soften the
space and not make it feel too
closed in,” says Fiona. A bank
of cabinetry in matt black
provides not only plenty of
storage options for a family
but also a crisp contrast to the
splashback tiles.

COPPER LAYER

To add warmth and
a contrast to the black
cabinetry, beaten-copper
Godfrey pendant lights from
Lightly were installed. “They
add an intimate glow to the
kitchen,” says Fiona. Such
elements also contribute
a sophisticated note that will
outlast the children’s early
years and create an enduring,
timeless space.>
