Stone hinge
The homeowners and Peter agreed
to retain the ceramic tiles lining the
pool and the sandstone flagging
surrounding it. They liked the stone
so much that Peter decided to cover
the entire lawn area in sandstone
pavers. “We didn’t want mud tracks
around the pool,” he says.

Fab frangipani
Peter has planted a grove of five
mature frangipani trees. “I love their
casual yet dignified form,” he says.
Under each he has composed
soft drifts of plants, including
Helichrysum italicum, Calamagrostis
‘Overdam’, Agave desmetiana,
Buxus spheres and Mexican lily
(Beschornia yuccoides, b ot to m).

Deep greens
The combination of evergreen
climber Beaumontia grandiflora
and multiple Podocarpus, an
evergreen conifer, creates a
deep, green backdrop along
the rear fence.
