HOME “I’m an early riser, but
not by choice!” says the mum of
two boys, aged seven and four.
“Playing games is part of our
morning routine, usually chess
or cards,” she says. “We find it
brings the kids into the moment,
so when it comes to nagging
them about putting shoes on,
they’re more present.” After
games and breakfast, Hannah
and her husband Malcolm
take turns walking the kids
to school and preschool.

TEAM MEETING, TRIBE STUDIO “I love working with a team of
fantastic architects and designers who inspire me,” says Hannah,
seen here with (clockwise) Jeremy Unger, Jeff Grant, Sophie Lanagan
and Chloe Goldsmith. “Architecture is such a broad church; you need
someone to wear the big-ideas hat, another to wear the details hat,
the budget-conscious hat and so on. We each have our strengths.
Having a team is crucial and makes the process more fun.”

SARAH COTTIER GALLERY, PADDINGTON “I often visit an art gallery with
clients,” says Hannah, who is currently designing a renovation for Tina Melick,
above left. “It’s good to talk about how their art will sit in their new space. Plus,
Tina and I just love looking at art together for fun.” A hand-drawn architectural
plan, above right: “It’s the best job in the world – I get to draw every day”.

BUILDING SITE, ANNANDALE Discussing progress with
Tribe Studio’s managing associate director and project manager,
Miriam Green. “I relish site inspections,” says Hannah. “On a
visceral level, I just love the smell of concrete dust. And I love that
an immaculate architectural object emerges out of the chaos.”
