hen she was growing up,
Kylie Johnson’s parents gave
her an ornament to hang on
the tree each Christmas. Decades on,
this Brisbane ceramic artist still owns
and treasures these little objects,
carefully unpacking them each year
to be displayed anew. So potent are
the memories associated with these
keepsakes that 14 years ago, Kylie was
inspired to design her own range of
decorations, which she sells through
her boutique ceramic studio, Paper
Boat Press. Every year she releases
new designs, including a dove of
peace in a new shape, imprinted with
messages of peace. For her legions
of followers, Kylie’s Christmas
decorations are an annual must-have.
“It’s lovely to know I now have
collectors too.” >
