Be brave when it comes to
mixing patterns, says
Adelaide; just bear in mind
that the secret is keeping a
tight rein on the overall
palette. In the main bedroom
(above), she has layered
fabrics – pattern against
pattern – to great effect.
Cushions in Carolina Irving

a solid throw and other green
accessories to reflect the lush
hues of the links outside.
A white-on-white bedcover
and panelled doors set up a
base of textural richness.

“I love seagrass wallpaper,”
says Adelaide. “I use it mainly
to create texture. It adds
softness and layers to decor,
too.” She usually prefers
natural seagrass but in this
case, she opted for a clever
lookalike, Thibaut Bankun
Raffia from Boyac.
It combines a beachy
natural-fibre aesthetic with
the wipe-down ease of vinyl,
a great plus in a setting where
grandchildren have the run
of the house. In this upstairs
sitting room (right), botanical
prints and a pineapple lamp
continue the nature theme.
