Amy Schumer: The Leather Special
STREAMING NETFLIX
“Every comic has some special where they
wear all leather,” Amy Schumer tongue-in-
cheekily notes at the top of her latest hour
of stand-up. It’s a reference to sets from the
likes of Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock that are
now considered classics. High standards!
But hey, Schumer’s confidence is justified—
she’s probably the best bawdy comic
working right now. And the special isvery
bawdy: It’s pretty much 85 percent sex jokes.
The good news is that all the sex jokes are
very funny! And even when Schumer turns
her attention elsewhere (guns, body image,
the Peabody Awards), she still kills it.B+

Season Premiere
TUESDAY, MARCH 7 10–11PM FX
At this point you’ve surely already encountered plenty of reviews, year-
end best lists, and TV-nerd friends who all swearThe Americans—
now entering its fifth season—is one of the finest experiences on
television. If you’re still not convinced, I’m just going to list some
of the cool stuff that happens this season. In one episode Philip
(Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell), the sexy Russian mar-
ried spies at the center of this espionage drama, pretend to be cow-
pokes, sneak into an insect lab, and kill a man to Roxy Music’s “More
Than This.” They also dress up as pilots, flight attendants, and rac-
quetball players. In the premiere the couple spend 10 entire minutes
digging a hole—whichsounds boring but pays off once you see what
happens when they finish. I’ve probably already said too much, but
consider this: If there ever was a time to start watching a show about
Russian spies undermining American interests, wouldn’t it be now?A–
