Barry Manilow
Barry, those of us who have
been here for your whole
career are still here. The
fusion of your private life and
public persona share the
common denominator that’s
always fueled your music and
passion—it’s all about love.
Lynn HindsJoplin, Mo.

I was a college freshman
when I first heard “Mandy.”
Now I’m the mother of a
college junior, and I’m just as

excited for the upcoming
release of Barry’s latest
album,This Is My Town:
Songs of New York. I’m
glad he has so much love
in his life.
Mara FriedmanSpringfield, N.J.

Doris Day
I just saw the newly released
birthday portrait of Doris
Day in your issue. She is one
of my favorite actresses.
She looks good at 95! I hope
if I live to 95 I look as good!

Property Brothers
Jonathan and Drew Scott,
you both seem so down-to-
earth, sweet, funny, great
with children and just plain
normal. Your parents did
a great job. I wish you both
the best.
Diana W.via people.com

Property Brothers is such a
great show. Jonathan and
Drew work so well together.
Roy S.via people.com

Love the Scott brothers.
Happy they both found love.
The girls who caught their
hearts are lucky.

Ann-Margret
How refreshing to see one
of my all-time favorite
entertainers, Ann-Margret,
say that her biggest blessing
in life is her 50-year marriage
to Roger Smith. She herself

has been a blessing to
so many.
Pedro BlancoNaples, Fla.

I’ve missed seeing Ann-
Margret in movies and on TV.
I’m glad she is back, starring
inGoing in Style.
Barbara C.North Adams, Mass.

Companies That Care
Thank you for this brilliant
endeavor highlighting
companies that care. This can
only encourage others to give
back to our communities. It’s
what our country needs a lot
more of these days.

UPDATE

Reality star “Mama June” Shannon revealed her 300 lb. weight loss in our April 17 issue. She’d
dropped $75,000 on multiple surgeries—including gastric sleeve, breast augmentation and skin
removal on her neck and arms—and was a proud size 4. But even before she had finished taping
the finale of her WE tv series,Mama June: From Not to Hot,
which aired on April 7, she was back in the hospital, complaining
of excruciating stomach pain due to complications from
various procedures. Now back home in Hampton, Ga., with her
daughters (Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 11, and Lauryn
“Pumpkin” Shannon, 17), Shannon, 37, says she’s in good health
and that her fans are adjusting to her new look. “It’s kind of
crazy,” she says. “A lot of people don’t recognize who I am until
I talk. It’s kind of like I’m in my own disguise.”—EMILY STROHM

A NEW WOMAN
“It’s not like I’m
Miss Plastic,” says
Shannon (at home
and, inset, in 2013).
“I don’t consider
a tummy tuck
or skin removal
‘plastic surgery.’”
