(Rick Simeone) #1
PLAYING JERRY EDGAR, Henry Bosch’s
right-hand man, Jamie Hector works alongside
LAPD detectives to bring a best-selling crime series
to life. He explains what makes the show unique
and who the real heroes are behind the scenes.

What drew you to the role of J. Edgar in Bosch?
I’ve pretty much played bad guys in my past roles, but
Jerry Edgar is a man with a strong moral compass. I related
to him on that level, but I loved the challenge of losing my
Brooklyn accent and playing a believable good guy.

What similarities are there between you and your character?
Jerry believes in balance, he goes hard at it when he’s
at work, but he also takes time out to be with his family.
Like me, he’s committed to getting a job done well,
but not losing himself in the process.

What maes Bosch diơerent from other crime shows?
The series is cinematic, each episode is a mini movie,
as opposed to other shows where you are very much
aware that you’re watching TV.

What was sur’rising about woring with oƥcers?
Those who do it, do it very well; it is a calling. They are doing
it because they are truly dedicated to protecting and serving
the community. I learned by being on ride-alongs that every
day can be life or death. It surprised me that anyone would
voluntarily sign up for the job.

Who was your biggest inƪuence to ’ursue an acting career?
My mother. When I was young, she would tell my sister
and me stories about growing up in Haiti. She would
captivate us, scare us, make us crack up. Yeah, that’s when
I knew I wanted to do this.
