Healing Naturally
The Powe r of Plants
Fun Facts
grown in Southern Europe and cultivated
wildly in North America, these bright
orange/yellow blossoms help speed up
the healing process for skin.
After hand harvesting the flowers, the
extraction process can take more than 21 days.
Traditional applications include use on:
dry skin, sunburns, recent or hard-to-heal
wounds, insect bites and to help ease the
symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.
C
alendula is known as the
“mother of the skin” and has
been used for generations to
heal cuts, scrapes, rashes and
skin irritations. Its healing properties
are attributed to the presence of
essential oils, saponins, flavonoids
and alkaloids. The extract of the
flowers aid skin healing by stimulating
and soothing damage tissues. Pretty
amazing stuff. The petals are composed
of resins which contain a potent array
of powerful antioxidant compounds.
These protect the skin from free-
radical damage and play an active role
in healing. Calendula has been found
to increase collagen and elastin in
the skin and can assist in preventing
the formation of scar tissue. Look for
calendula in herbal forms in soaps
and cosmetics, or as a homeopathic
medicine.
