I
f you’re anything like me and the
recipes+ team, and are truly and utterly
obsessed by food, right about now your
tastebuds are going into overdrive dreaming
about what comforting delight you might
make for dinner. You see, here at recipes+
headquarters, we talk about food all day
- and sometimes all night, too! It could be
anything from Meng’s mighty breakfasts,
Rebecca’s homemade hamantaschen
biscuits, Lyn’s amazing cakes, Gemma’s hip
and happening meals out or my addiction
to the office lolly jar. My food obsession
began in the 1970s in a little suburb by
the water. Takeaway was a rare treat and
grocery shopping happened every Friday
(shops were closed on the weekend). My
mum loved cooking for us so much she
took herself off and did Chinese cookery
classes. Most Sundays, Mum would simmer
up a big batch of Chicken & Corn Soup and
we would all marvel at how clever she was.
So Mum, this issue is dedicated right back at
you. These days, in my household, Mexican
gets a big thumbs up, so turn to page 6 to
create a little mealtime fun. Baking biscuits
gets another big thumbs up, so go that extra
mile and make Mother’s Day extra-special
with our loved-up creations (p26). You can
also treat Mum to a delicious family brunch
(p10). Food brings people together, so jump
on our foodie train and treasure those
