Where’s Gladstone: On the Capricorn Coast, situated
between Rockhampton and Bundaberg (just over an hour
from Rockhampton). Turn off the highway at Calliope and
head towards the coast.
Where in Gladstone: Shop 2, 281 J Hickey Avenue, Clinton,
in the Airport Shopping Village, just down from the airport.
Go past the airport and turn left into J Hickey Avenue. The
shopping village is on the corner of Col Brown Avenue and
J Hickey Avenue, one block down.
Who plays host: Terri and Heathe are always ready to help you.
Worth visiting because: A choice of the largest range of
machines, as we are dealers for all brands: Pfaff , Janome, Bernina,
Husqvarna, Brother, Babylock, Elna, and Handiquilter. Need a
machine mechanic? We have our own fully trained and accredited
machine technician. With more than 4,000 bolts of fabrics of all
diff erent styles, finding the right fabric for your project is never a
problem. We specialise in backing fabrics to help you finish your
quilts and can even quilt your quilts for you, or you can hire our
quilting machine to quilt yourself. We carry all the bits and bobs
you need, and if we don’t have what you want, we’re happy to
order it in for you. Looking for help on how to do it? We are happy
to do one-on-one lessons, or you can join one of our classes and
sewing days to learn a new technique or get some great advice.

What we recommend: We carry a huge range of gorgeous
Tilda fabrics and accessories, from current and older ranges.
If you are looking for a particular Tilda fabric, chances are we
will have it. Batik lovers will also be in heaven with our fabulous
range of batik fabrics in all colours.

Where’s Rockhampton: Rockhampton in Central Queensland
is known as the beef capital of Australia, and the ocean is only
a short drive away.

Where in Rockhampton: 194 Quay Street, which runs adjacent
to the magnificent Fitzroy River. Just a short drive off the main
highway on the south side of town.
Who plays host: Call in and meet the mother-and-daughter
team, Dianne and Sloane, who are happy to off er their
experience and service.
Worth visiting because: Needlework Cottage off ers a huge
array of fabrics and threads not readily found elsewhere. We
stock fabrics for a vast range of embroidery styles, including
specialty linens and Aidas. Our variety of fabrics is second to
none. Quality batiks, themed fabrics and, of course, quilting
fabrics, make up our extensive stock. We have plenty of haby
supplies to choose from. Dianne is a JEC-qualified Japanese
embroidery teacher and off ers classes once a month.
What we recommend: Dianne and Sloane have a passion for
crocheting. We both love using Natura and Cebelia to create
interesting projects, such as the combined fabric and crocheted
bedcover. We are loving Dianne Johnston’s
Under Twist Over and
pattern. Dianne has created a runner in this style using
eye-catching batik fabrics.
