Finishing

When all the stitching is complete,
check that the shape is a rectangle
with square corners. If it’s become
distorted, block it as described in the
following steps.

7

Lay the needlepoint face down on
the ironing board and use a spray
bottle of water to dampen, but not
wet, the canvas back, turn it over and
repeat for the front. Set the iron to a
wool temperature with maximum steam.

8

After pulling the canvas into its
proper shape, pin it to the ironing
board, face down. Hover the iron over
the back of the canvas without touching
it, applying steam. Gently pull the
canvas again to get it square and pin
it in place again.

9

Allow the canvas to dry naturally and
repeat the process. Use a quilter’s
ruler to ensure the corners are square.

Trace the triangle from the
Pattern Sheet on to template
plastic using a permanent-marking
