Purple power
From soft violet to deep burgundy,
purple plants were a designer favourite.
‘I have a passion for mixing
burgundy and green. Those tones
complemented and softened this
hardscaping palette of greys, blacks
and white. The beautiful foliage
is the hero... I love to use plants that
are not reliant on flowering.’
MARK BROWNING, CYCAS
LANDSCAPE DESIGN
A lush tapestry of green and burgundy plants greeted
visitors to the Echelon garden (above), a silver award-
winner designed by Mark Browning of Cycas Landscape
Design. Adding vibrant splashes of purple to the planting
scheme wereHeuchera‘Forever Purple’,H.‘Black Taffeta’,

Meanwhile, fellow landscape designer Charlie Albone used
Salvia(right) for purple highlights in his garden (see page

Alternanthera‘Little Ruby’ to adorn the front wall of its
